Some Things | Vol. 37: Nothing Was The SameOctober 19, 1987. Black Monday. The day all 23 global markets took an unexpected downturn. To this day the month celebrates the vital contributions that people of African & Caribbean backgrounds have made in shaping culture within the UK.Here are Some Things to inspire greatness in your week:

Some Things | Vol. 35: Out of this world
Some Things | Vol. 35: Out of this worldMike D, MCA and Ad-Rock - better known collectively as Beastie Boys - transcended genres and helped redefine the Hip-Hop landscape of 1980s America and beyond. With a background in the far removed world of experimental hardcore punk, they introduced new audiences to the ever-evolving sound of the East Coast & won critical acclaim in the process.Whilst they were picking up Grammy’s in 1999, including Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for single Intergalactic, the United Nations General Assembly were also busy in New York in declaring this week World Space Week. Here are Some Things to helps broaden your horizons to the creative worlds & universe out there:
Some Things - Issue #34: Where the magic happens
Some Things | Vol. 34: Where the magic happensLong before the purity laws of 1516 that enshrined malt, hops and water into beer making law, the Germanic people have been enjoying the world’s most popular alcoholic drink. And then in the 19th century 3 became 4, with the discovery of yeast - or where the magic happened, as they had previously thought. In the week that traditionally marks the beginning of the end of Bavaria’s Oktoberfest celebrations, 3 also becomes 4 as we enter the year’s fourth and final quarter with the commencement of October. Here are some things to help bring some magic to your week:
Some Things | Vol. 33: Double Up or Double Down?
Some Things | Vol. 33: Double Up or Double Down?If De La Soul told us three is the magic number, then what of 33? Would it be twice as magic, or would it be a case of double trouble? I suppose that’s down to your sense of perspective. It worked well on the basketball court for Hall of Famer Larry Bird, but didn’t bode so well for Napoleon (who died with 13 times the normal levels of arsenic in his blood, the atomic number for which is 33).What we do know is that we’re here at Volume 33. With pre-season just around the corner, we hope your week is more NBA Finals than the Battle of Waterloo. Here are some things to help start it with a win:
Some Things | Vol. 32: Regeneration
Some Things | Vol. 32: Regeneration“There are 2 options, adapt or die” — Andy Grove, Former CEO of Intel. What was true for Andy and Intel is true today. Every generation really does need to evolve and adapt in the name of collective progress. Rules are made to be broken. What is considered the norm today could seem absurd tomorrow. The world is constantly changing, and we have 2 options. Here are some things that show how people have chosen the latter.
Some Things | Vol. 31: Focus
Some Things | Vol. 31: FocusIn a world that is so noisy & chaotic, it can sometimes feel difficult to find our focus, but take a second to look through your viewfinder of life, & understand what's in your frame before making that next move. Here are some things to get you started:
Some Things | Vol. 30: Harder than it looks
Some Things | Vol. 30: Harder than it looksUnless you perform something first hand you will never truly understand how difficult or easy a particular accomplishment may be. The internet's latest viral challenge is one of those things…it surely can’t be that difficult to walk over a pyramid of milk crates, can it? Here are some things to get you inspired for the week:
Some Things | Vol. 29: Not As It Seems
"Why things are not always what they seem; first appearance deceives many, the intelligence of a few perceive what has been carefully hidden”Phaedrus, c. 444–393 BCEveryone has a unique window into the world, no matter a person’s race, gender, status, or health. Our perception of reality is in a constant state of change & can be altered by something as substantial as how we are raised or our lifestyle, to something as trivial as how we are feeling on a particular day. Perception creates our experience of the world but every person perceives the world & approaches challenges differently. The mind is strange in the way that it picks & chooses what it wants to see in the world. Here are some things to inspire you this week:
Some Things | Vol. 28: Better Late
Some Things | Vol. 28: Better Late"The separation between past, present, and future is only an illusion" - Albert EinsteinLooking to the past can sometimes be the best jumping off point for the next step forward. Not really out with the old & in with the new, more learn from what or who has gone before. In the age of new, sometimes that can mean old. And in the age of weekly newsletters, that can sometimes mean we’re better late than never - or that this day delay was merely an illusion, if you listen to Einstein. Here are some things to kick-start the rest of your week:
Some Things | Vol. 27: Rebalance
Some Things | Vol. 27: RebalanceLife is a balancing act. And not just for the gymnasts competing in Tokyo. From the time we start to walk - or tumble - through to adulthood, we learn that life is all about balance. Between work and life. Between the good and not so good days. Sometimes we stumble and need to get back up. Here are some things to help put a spring in your step.
